Calcutta:Trainer Vijay Singh’s 9/10 hot favourite, Shivansh (Suraj Narredu-up), easily won the 2,800m Calcutta St. Leger, here on Saturday. Vijay, in fact, won five of the eight races in the afternoon’s card.
The day also witnessed jockeys S. Zervan, Hindu Singh and Nikhil Naidu suffering falls. However, all three escaped unhurt.
Three jockeys — S. Zervan (Duke), Hindu Singh (Avebury) and Nikhil Naidu (Fabiola) — who had fallen off their respective rides at the Calcutta races on Saturday, are learnt to have escaped with minor injuries. Zervan has already taken a flight to Mumbai while Hindu is back home. Naidu is, however, under observation, but there is nothing serious to be concerned about.
